A  Pakistani banker, Ali Allawala, has been appointed as the CEO of Standard  Chartered Bank Saadiq in Malaysia with immediate effect.
Ali  has over 22 years of experience in retail banking, both within conventional and  Islamic banking, across several Muslim countries such as Saudi Arabia and the  UAE.
He  joined Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan in 2012. He previously worked at  Citibank and Samba Financial Group.
“I started my career  as Management Associate at Citibank. I am currently working with Standard  Chartered Bank doing dual role as CEO of Standard Chartered Saadiq (Islamic  Banking) Malaysia and Global Head of Retail Islamic banking. In the global  assignment, my responsibility includes managing businesses in 7 markets –  UAE, Pakistan, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Bahrain, and Kenya.” Ali  Allawala
His  experience of business development, product management, distribution, lending,  wealth management, marketing, etc. across products and geographies has enabled  him to manage complexities, risks, regulatory and governance challenges.

Pakistani  bankers are gradually considered as high achievers in the banking sector and  being deputed in different markets to serve.
Mohsin  Nathani, the current CEO of Habib Metro Bank, also worked at Citibank and  became CEO and President of Standard Chartered Bank of Pakistan. He was  promoted to CEO and President at Standard Chartered Bank UAE, and now he has  moved to Habib Metro Bank as a top banker.
