The Most Affordable 3G Enabled Cell Phones 'Jazz X' Launched by Mobilink

In a bid to provide customers with a streamlined set of solutions for their communication needs, Mobilink has announced the launch of an affordable Smartphone range named Jazz X. The Mobilink Jazz X cell phone range includes one feature phone, JF100 available for PKR 2,999, and three different Smartphones, JS300, JS500, and JS700, which are available for PKR 4,299, PKR 5,499, and PKR 7,999 respectively.

"We are constantly looking for avenues to provide our customers with the best in-class services and products. The launch of our Jazz X range with our exceptional 3G services will enable consumers, especially from marginalized communities, to be included in the ongoing digitization process,” said Asif Aziz, VP Marketing Mobilink. “There are a very large number of inexpensive and largely undifferentiated devices in the market today catering to the developing communities. We believe, with our Jazz X range, we are able to offer superior value handsets at each price point; something for every consumer.”
Adding to Asif’s statement, Aamer Manzoor, Head of Data – Mobilink stated, “This is another step in Mobilink’s evolution as Pakistan’s best mobile network. Today we are no longer just telecommunications service providers, but have expanded our footprint in becoming a complete mobile communications solution provider.”

The JS300 and JS500 Smartphones in the Jazz X range, run on Android 4.4, have a 2MP rear and a VGA front camera, Dual SIM capabilities, 512MB RAM (JS300 & JS500 ONLY), and support external memory up to 32GB.  The variance in these two Smartphone models is their respective screen sizes and processors.  The JS300 has a MTK 1.0GHz Dual-Core processor with a 3.5 inches screen, the JS500 has a MTK 1.3GHz Dual-Core processor with a 4.0 inches screen, and the JS700, largest Smartphone in the Jazz X category with a 5.0 inches display screen, has 1GB RAM, 5MP rear and 2Mp front camera, and a MTK 1.2GHz Dual-Core processor.

The JF100, a feature phone in the range, offer loads of basic features, i.e. a flashlight, FM radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 2MP front and a VGA back camera, dual SIM and boasts of a battery that can last days without a charge. In addition to these qualities, the biggest plus is that this phone is a 3G enabled phone hence distinguishing it from other feature phones.

The launch of this Jazz X cell phone range is in line with Mobilink’s strategy of introducing affordable 3G devices in the market to enable 3G usage in a bid to reduce the prevalent digital divide, especially amongst rural inhabitants. With the features they offer, along with the affordable pricing, these devices shall entice first time internet users to take the leap and experience the power of high speed internet.  All four devices are available exclusively at all Mobilink Business Centers and franchises along with PKR 800 balance2GB 3G. JS500 and JS700 also offer customers unlimited Facebook, Twitter and Whatsapp usage for up to 4 months.

5 Affordable Gaming Laptops to Check Out This Summer

By Gulshan Naz: I was recently having a discussion with a friend about the best gaming machines and he was persistent that laptops are no match for desktops when it comes to great gaming experience. But you cannot move around or travel with your desktop can you and well an avid gamer cannot live without having a go at his or her favorite game at least once a day so here is a list of 5 of the best gaming laptops.

Acer Aspire V3-572G-54S6

Price: Rs. 58,000 approx.
You can play majority of the games on this machine though the setting might have to be tweaked a bit. The machine comes with a Geforce GT 840M 2GB graphics card. It's a fairly powerful machine and weighs around 5.26 pounds. The processor is Intel Core i5 4210U (Haswell) 1.7-2.7GHz Dual-Core + Hyper-Threading, 8GB RAM and the battery timing is impressive compared to other gaming laptops. The downside is the less than accurate contrast and the viewing angles. The verdict on this machine would be a 2.5 out 5.

HP Pavilion 15 – P283TX

Price: Rs. 85,000 approx.
The display on this laptop is HD and with a 1366 x 768 resolution you can play quite a few games at various settings. The Pavilion 15 comes with an Intel Core i7 5th Generation 2.4 GHz processor, 8GB RAM and an Nvidia GeForce GT 840M 2GB graphics card. With a slim chassis, crisp sounding BeatsAudio dual speakers and good battery run time, the verdict on this one is slightly better i.e. 3 out of 5.

Dell Inspiron 3542

Price: Rs. 63,000 approx.
Pretty much the same specs as the HP Pavillion, Dell Inspiron 3542 is not for the 24/7 gamer but is good enough to carry along for both gaming as well as work especially if you have to travel a lot and don't want to lose touch with your gaming persona. Dell Inspiron 3542 is pretty much a budget gaming machine; verdict 3 out of 5.

Acer Aspire E1 572G

Price: Rs. 75,000 approx.
With an Intel Core i7-4500U chip, 8GB DDR3 RAM, 1TB HDD, and AMD Radeon HD 8750M graphics with 2GB of dedicated DDR3 memory the Acer Aspire E1 572G is the synonym for a budget gaming laptop. Looks wise this might not be the ideal laptop but in this case looks don't matter, all that matters is what's inside the hood. Verdict 4.5 out of 5 especially keeping in mind the price.

Asus ROG GL551

Price: Rs. 132,000 approx.
A power packed laptop which would play any of the current titles on max settings.  One wouldn't say that the machine is a beauty but it is practical and sturdy with metal deck and palm rests comfortable for long gaming sessions. One downside to the chassis is the singular heat vent and during long gaming sessions that might be an issue. The sound on the laptop is good as you get to hear the minor sounds such as the wind blowing, footsteps or splashes clearly.

The keyboard is backlit and so is the ROG "Republic of Gamers" logo, which some perceive as ASUS trying to scream to its customers that this is a gaming machine. This is a heavy machine weighing at 6 pounds and the dimensions are 15.0 x 10 x 1.3 inches. When it comes to graphics it comes equipped with GTX 860M graphics card with 2GB of video memory.
The major downside to this laptop is its weak contrast, matt finished screen which to be honest is a disappointment. No matter how much you play around with the viewing angle the picture would still be mediocre. As with all other gaming laptops this one too is a battery guzzler. My verdict would be 4 out of 5 for ASUS GL551 as the price is quite a bit on the higher side.
