Mobilink has Launched ‘Make Your Mark’ as its Flagship Corporate Responsibility Initiative

Mobilink has launched its flagship Corporate Responsibility initiative – Make Your Mark. The 'Make Your Mark' initiative is a key element of VimpelCom's corporate responsibility strategy, with the objective of 'Helping young people shape their future'.  'Make Your Mark' recognizes the challenges that today's young people face regarding issues such as poverty, youth unemployment, inadequate healthcare and education, food security, resource scarcity and climate change – reinforced by a rapidly growing population.  It aims to provide young people with technology tools, support and mentoring, and in some cases access to basic education, to help them tackle these challenges at an individual, community and national level – to shape their future. Under the Make Your Mark umbrella Mobilink has partnered with LUMS Center of Entrepreneurship, Institute of Social and Policy Sciences, GuarantCo and Pakistan Center for Philanthropy (PCP) and is working on setting up an incubator for budding entrepreneurs, expanding its mLiteracy program to reach out to an additional 3750 rural females and establishing 6 state-of-the-art ICT labs at schools adopted by NGOs.

Anusha Rehman, Minister for IT, speaking at the launch said:
"The Government of Pakistan is committed towards implementing the latest technology to enable the youth of Pakistan. Make Your make is an encouraging step from Mobilink and will go a long way in supporting the Government's strategy of enabling the young generation of Pakistan through technological advancements."
Minister of IT further added: 
"The government is confident that together with this interest, investment and support of corporate organization we will be able to capitalized the telecommunications infrastructure for socio-economic development of Pakistan"

He then also thanked the Minister of IT, Anusha Rehman for her valuable time and kind patronage.  

Furthermore, Mobilink has also developed Mobilink Guardian; an android based app working with a young startup Virtual Proz. Mobilink Guardian Service notifies your loved ones of your location. Currently being offered on Android Handsets, the service when trigged uses GSM and GPS to transmit prompter's location to up to 5 user-listed contacts via customizable SMS alerts. This service can be prompted by simply pressing power button thrice.

Lenovo K3 Note: A Flagship Phablet


Lenovo has announced the K3 Note, an upper mid-range phablet. The device will directly take on Xiaomi Redmi Note and Meizu M1 Note. It is a larger and better equipped version of the existing Lenovo K3.

The K3 Note is equipped with a 5.5-inch FullHD display surrounded by a body in yellow. The phone has a unique design with a distinctive circular bump at the back which is purely for aesthetic purposes.
The K3 Note comes with a 64-bit MediaTek MT 6752 chipset which has an octa-core processor which clocks at 1.7 GHz. The smartphone is also has 2GB of RAM and 16GB on on-board storage which is expandable by up to 32 GB via microSD card. The camera department harbors a 13MP sensor at the back with a dual tone LED flash and a 5MP front camera.

The connectivity is covered by a dual-sim capability with one sim supporting 3G and 4G LTE while the second sim slot is GSM only. Lenovo have fit a big 3000mAh battery inside the battery which 7.6mm thick. The phone weighs around 150g.

The phone comes with the latest Android build Lollipop 5.0. The smartphone provides good hardware at a very low price tag of $145 and it makes it probably one of the best bang-for-buck devices we've ever seen. Another version of the K3 Note, called the Teana, costs $160 adds the ability to use "ceramic piece vibration speaker", which supposedly pumps out more sound.

Xperia Z4 is Sony’s Latest Flagship Smartphone


All those anticipating the release of the next entrant in the SONY Xperia Z smartphone family were left disappointed when SONY announced the Z4 tablet at the last MWC. SONY seems to have taken no time to make up to you folks as it officially announced the Xperia Z4 in Japan. From the looks of things, the latest iteration remains true to its roots and adopts the same look.
Xperia Z4 is 6.9mm thick and weighs 144 grams, sporting a metal and glass body that mimics the same class as its earlier build. It is as much as 0.4mm slimmer and 8 grams lighter than the Z3. Besides being IP6 certified for dust, it is also IP5 and IP8 certified which protects it against water. Users can submerge the smartphone as deep as 4.92 feet for a maximum of 30 minutes.
The phone comes with a 5.2 inch 1080p LCD display. 64-bit Octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor along with 3GB of RAM should have no issues running Android 5.0 Lollipop on the device. Should users run out of the 32GB internal memory, they have the option to expand storage upto 128GB. Besides the 5MP front-facing camera onboard, the 20MP rear snapper sports a cooking mode that lets users take enhanced images of food.
SONY Xperia Z4 is set to release in Japan later this summer. There is no word on its price or date of release elsewhere yet.
